Romantic Escape ….but baby came too!
Saturday was lovely. Mikael and I are so busy at the moment that we are starting to feel as if we never see each other because when one of us is working, the other is taking care of Jake, and vice versa. So we decided at the weekend to put work aside and have a family "away-day". I was relieved to see the sun shining when I awoke on Saturday morning and the day seemed to be charmed - everything went perfect. We arrived at the station with enough time to catch the train to Stockholm (about an hour away). Jake loved it and behaved beautifully throughout the whole trip - watching the people in the train, and the world passing outside the window. This gave Mikael and I precious "together" time to talk about things and just enjoy being together.
In the capital I was able to find some American writing magazines that I enjoy, then we went to the bookstore and as it was Mother's Day in the UK on Sunday, Mikael bought me some books from Jake. After a late lunch, where Jake was a little sweetheart and had a short nap, allowing us to eat in peace, we wandered slowly back to the station and caught the train home again. Jake was exhausted from all the things and people there had been to look at. He is so curious and therefore terrified to nap for too long in case he missed out on something!
Freelancing and working from home doing something you love means that it's easy to get caught up with enthusiasm for your projects without
realizing how much time you are spending working until you find yourself actually missing your partner you live with! After the romantic family day though, I feel ready to face the week ahead with renewed batteries.
I have a few small deadlines this week, but my main task will be setting up two new writing jobs at wz.com. Although I love writing for sites like this, I hate the starting up procedures because every system is different and it takes me longer to figure out where to put information than it does to produce it. I'm not technically challenged, really I'm not - but sometimes the information makes me feel really dumb! Thank goodness Mikael is a computer wiz and can fix my problems.
As far as improving my health, I'm not getting very far! I have ordered a book that is recommended at herhealthychoices.com where you actually make notes in the book of what you eat and exercise you do etc. I am hoping that the discipline of having to write this down will help to motivate me into doing better because I think it will be easier to do it now, then be overweight, unfit and having to run after an active toddler with a very enquiring mind! Right? If only typing burned off more calories!
